Legacy Electronics Commits to Medical Relief Effort in Haiti

Portion of Sales from Each Memory Module Manufactured Donated for New Tent Hospital

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Legacy Electronics, Inc., a leading memory module designer and manufacturer, announced today that it is making a commitment to support Dr. Ken Pierce and his post-earthquake emergency medical relief efforts in Haiti. Legacy is donating $0.10 for every memory module the company manufactures between today, March 1, 2010, and June 30, 2010.

“It’s important for businesses to find a way, even in tough times, to contribute to these relief efforts. Our customers will know that as a result of ordering products from Legacy, they’re participating. I urge other businesses to contribute to Dr. Pierce’s important medical mission through similar product promotions.”

Dr. Pierce, a practicing emergency physician and medical director of Island Doctors on Call in Kauai, Hawaii, is one of many providing medical relief to the injured in Haiti, where more than 1 million people are now homeless, and many severely injured. Pierce is working with New Life Children’s Home to erect a new tent hospital in Port-Au-Prince, and another in a rural area of Haiti.

Jason Engle, Legacy Electronics’ president, said "It’s important for businesses to find a way, even in tough times, to contribute to these relief efforts. Our customers will know that as a result of ordering products from Legacy, they’re participating. I urge other businesses to contribute to Dr. Pierce’s important medical mission through similar product promotions."

Dr. Pierce and his family, both his wife nurse Diane and his 17-year-old daughter Emily, returned to Haiti Feb. 28 to work with New Life Children’s Home in spearheading the hospital, planned to house 150 children. New Life Children’s Home is an orphanage and rescue center in operation in Haiti since 1977.

How Others May Help

On his ‘Help for Haiti’ video, Dr. Pierce states that individuals or organizations who wish to provide medical assistance may email him (ilandoc@hotmail.com). Monetary donations are being accepted in the name of the Kauai Christian Fellowship Haitian Fund at www.kauaichristian.com. The most current updates on this relief effort are available from Miriam Fredericks, director of New Life Children’s Home, on her Facebook page, or at www.whmnewlife.org.
