SIOUX FALLS, SD--(BUSINESS WIRE)--It was only 6 months ago that Legacy Electronics chose to partner with Samsung Techwin, the Semiconductor System Division of Samsung, to increase production capacity of their memory modules and board-based computer products. Now Legacy is purchasing and installing additional automated semiconductor placement equipment at their manufacturing facility in Canton, and their CEO, Jason Engle, predicts another significant boost in overall production volume.
Engle said, “We are seeing 15%-17% higher placement speed than Samsung estimated by simulation when they quoted the first line bought earlier this year. By outperforming the estimated placement speeds, we exceeded our anticipated capacity increase, making the choice to stay with Samsung a simple one. The addition of another new production line will boost overall production volumes. With a few minor efficiency tweaks to the original production line and this new line, we anticipate a 20%-25% increase in capacity.”
Larry Groves, director of technical sales for Samsung C&T Automation, said, “We’re delighted to expand our partnership with Legacy, and are honored by their trust in Samsung as their placement solutions provider. Our policy has always been to exceed our customers’ expectations and to deliver the performance and quality they need to grow in their market. We’re committed to Legacy’s future success, and we’ll continue to provide world-class equipment and support.”
Legacy Electronics is targeting mid-December for production line installation, and full functionality by January 2015.
