SAN CLEMENTE, CA — September 29, 2003 — Less than three years ago, Legacy Electronics purchased a 15,000-square-foot contract manufacturing building in the Amanecer Industrial Complex and invested $3 million in surface-mount technology (SMT) manufacturing equipment and automated test equipment (ATE). "This investment was made," said company President Jason Engle, to help position the company for what it considered to be the next generation of SMT component manufacturing. Electronic industry downturn or not, the strategy must have worked."
The company has expanded once again to a new 45,000-square-foot facility in the Rancho San Clemente Business Park and made an additional $2.2 million capital investment in manufacturing and test equipment. In addition, Legacy is retaining the original 15,000-square-foot facility for future expansion. "Due to our rapid growth, we have additional openings at Legacy Electronics for technical positions," adds Engle, "and we'll be announcing the hiring of a key Sales Executive soon."
"With new equipment, new skilled labor, and new ISO-qualified procedures," said Engle, "We've been able to triple our current throughput in our new facilities. And these facilities offer additional expansion that will allow us to double this new capacity in the next few years."
Ken Kledzik, Chief Technology Officer for Legacy, states, "The new BTT DDR440 test equipment we've purchased from King Tiger Technology is add-on technology to our current testers. It's behavioral test technology for today's real-world testing situations."
"Plus, we've invested in six new Assembleon Topaz X2 high-speed placement machines for increased placement and speed capacities," added manufacturing manager, Andy Reinelt.
