SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As of September 17, 2013, Legacy Electronics’ SSD1000 series of solid state drives, and the company’s Canton, South Dakota manufacturing facility are CSA Group certified. Most SSD manufacturers, whether large or small, are not yet recognized as being CSA Group or UL safety certified, so Legacy Electronics is among the first.
Jason Engle, Legacy’s chief executive officer, said, “Legacy Electronics recognizes the increasing importance of this safety standard in our industry, especially as SSDs are incorporated in more diverse applications. We’re happy to have received our certificate of compliance this month.”
Legacy’s chief technology officer, Cory Stoffers, added, “The CSA Group inspectors were courteous and professional. Because of our effective process controls and high manufacturing standards, meeting their requirements was gratifying.”
SSDs are data storage devices using integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data. As compared to electromechanical disks, SSDs are typically more resistant to physical shock, are quieter, and have lower access time. To receive CSA Group certification, Legacy Electronics passed both a facility audit and a destructive product test. Furthermore, the company is subject to quarterly, ‘unannounced’ CSA Group inspections.
